Restoration can drift into invention — smoothing a face into someone who never existed. We deliberately hold back from that. Damage is repaired, detail recovered, colour returned; the person stays the person.

What they are
really for

A restored photograph is a file on a phone. A book is a thing on a shelf that someone picks up. Yours, printed properly and bound — one photograph to a spread, so each gets a page of its own to sit on. Posted to you, delivery included in the price. Photographs you add yourself cost nothing; only the ones that need repairing do.

Fifteen photographs fill a book, softcover or hardcover, in three sizes up to 28 cm square — printing and delivery included.

Two parts to it: the printing, and the restorations that go inside, which are bought separately as credits. Do them one at a time, whenever you find another. The book waits until you are ready.

What we
can repair

Fading, tears, scratches, blur and colour loss are all common starting points. If yours looks worse, send it anyway and we’ll be honest about what is possible.

Fading and yellowing: Bring back colour and lift the yellow cast of old paper without turning skin grey.
Scratches and tears: Repair creases, cracks, tape marks, missing corners and album-glue damage.
Blur and softness: Recover detail from soft prints and poor scans without making faces look artificial.
Black and white: Add restrained, period-appropriate colour or leave the photograph black and white. Either way is included.

Questions

Do I need a scanner?

No. A photograph taken on your phone is enough. Lay the print flat, use soft daylight rather than a flash, avoid shadows and glare, and fill the frame with the print.

Will they still look like themselves?

This is the thing we care about most. Restoration can drift into invention, smoothing a face into someone who never existed, and we deliberately hold back from that. You know this face better than any machine does, so if the result isn’t right, tell us and we will redo it.

What happens to my photographs?

They are used to produce your restoration and nothing else. They are never sold, never shared, and never used to train anything. Ask us and we will delete them.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay once for a set number of restorations. There is nothing to cancel and no second charge unless you choose to come back.

How damaged is too damaged?

Less often than people expect. Heavy tearing, water damage and mould marks are usually recoverable, and so are prints that have faded almost to nothing. The gallery above is a fair sample of what arrives and what goes back. If yours looks worse, tell us before you buy and we will say honestly whether it is worth it.
